The mini-computer Raspberry Pi Zero has just dropped a new barrier by proposing a nano PC for only 5 dollars, 5 times cheaper than its own mini PC. The founders say they want the computer can be democratized without price barrier and that even if their products were already very cheap, they were still too expensive …
What is Raspberry Pi?
Raspberry Pi computer Zero for 5 dollars!
To show that their objective is the “ultimate accessibility” of a nano PC, the foundation even pushes its reasoning to the extreme by offering free their Raspberry Pi Zero to those who buy the magazine The Magpi!
The question that may therefore arise naturally, is: for that price, what we may have? The Raspberry Pi Zero offers an 11 Core ARM processor clocked at 1GHz supported by 512 MB of RAM. In terms of connectivity, it has two USB ports, a mini HDMI port, and a micro SD card reader. It also includes a connector composed of 40 GPIO pins.
A compromise had to be made for the Raspberry Pi Zero, it is indeed a little less powerful than the Pi 2, but is much smaller (it weighs only 9 grams), which can be a plus for some uses (robot, drone, etc.). Furthermore, it is faster than the first version of Raspberry Pi (the site ZDNet announces up to 40%).
